We all know treating cancer is very complex. Whenever there is a diagnosis of cancer, then we get panic and the major question comes to our mind, is how to proceed further.
When ever a cancer is diagnosed, first thing to do, is, to confirm the stage of cancer ,with the help of radiological investigations like PET CT Scan, CT Scan, MRI, USG and X ray. Choice of investigation depends on the type of cancer.
After stage is confirmed, then cancer is treated according to the stage of cancer.

Drugs which are given to treat cancer are called chemotherapy drugs. Cancer cells are our own body cells , but due to some mutations and changes, these cells start dividing at very fast speed and gets converted to cancer. Chemotherapy drugs destroy these fast dividing cancer cells.
Chemotherapy drugs are of different types and different drugs are given in different patients.

Apart from these routine chemotherapy drugs, there are lot of newer modalities of treatment, which works differently from chemotherapy drugs. These are Targeted Drugs and Monoclonal Antibodies, and these drugs works specifically against particular targets and mutations in cancers.

Blood cancers are of two main types, one is pure blood cancer which is called Leukemia and cancer of lymph nodes which is called Lymphoma.
Leukemia is cancer of blood and is of two types, Acute Leukemia which is fast growing and needs immediate admission and aggressive treatment. Other one is slow growing, known as chronic leukemia and can be treated with tablets. There are various subtypes of these cancers and treatment differs according to subtype of cancer, and many patients can get cure with treatment.

Apart from cancers and blood cancers, we see a lot of patients with common hematological issues.
